Background:
I am the mountain hero that Stephan wants to be. Whilst Stephan is doing productive things like writing books or making websites, I am usually climbing, cycling, running or drinking.

Early climbing

I am originally from Sheffield, so I have always walked and climbed in the peak.

Whilst at Nottingham university I was introduced to winter climbing through the Munro Pineapple Society.

I rapidly became hooked and visited the Alps and did the Jonathon Conville Course (A must for all novice Alpinists).

Harder stuff

I visited the Alps again the following year, this time with my little brother Simon. We got loads done despite poor weather (see photos).

I have climbed with my brother a lot in the previous year, including 5 trips to Scotland last winter and regularly rock climbing in the Peaks. Unfortunately he now climbs harder than me on rock (but I can still second him up E3 5c). However I am going to the Himalayas!

Other stuff
As well as dilgently studying medicine I also run Nottingham Active Sports group. This university society runs a complete range of 'active' sports from climbing to gruelling ice skating trips.

I cycle in time-trial competitions around Nottingham as well as taking part in epic cycle touring expeditions with Stephan. In the past these have included trips across France and to Tipperary (incidently, this is a long way).
